Bombarded

So yesterday I was bombarded with texts all at once from a lot of you for me to update the blog. I know, I know, I've been slacking but sometimes I don't know what to write about!

Let's see.... We did go to a party the other day. It was at the home at Slippery Falls. They are remodeling the home so one of our friends has to move out and he had a bunch of people over for one last hoorah. We had a good time and he even got a fire dancer to perform for us in the middle of the water but we missed you guys a lot. There was like at least 50 people and we were just lost in a sea of strangers! There were a handful of faces that we felt comfortable with but I definitely missed the feeling of knowing everyone in the room. We played some ice breaker game while there and that really helped. We got to talk with Bethany Hamilton (don't know her new last name) and her husband which was really cool. They are super nice people. It's good for us to force ourselves to branch out and meet new people because we are both a bit uncomfortable with it!

Some updates I put on Facebook, like the fact that I am volunteering at an elementary school near us. I just really missed being with kids and the satisfaction of knowing that I am making a difference! I volunteer two days a week at Hanalei School tutoring some kids in the library that are behind academically. I am really enjoying my time there. It will also help out if we decide to stay for another year so they will know my face when I apply for a job!

Houston has started chief men back up again. It is definitely a bit harder when you are thousands of miles away and there is a six hour time difference. He makes it work though! We rush home from church so Houston can make it in time to FaceTime the class. It works out well since we are home by 11. The only bad thing is, we aren't able to stick around for the pot luck and fellowship after every service. Houston and I just did an assignment for chief men where he had to record himself baptising three times. The rest of the guys did it in the baptistery at church but obviously Houston couldn't make it. We decided that since our church doesn't have a baptistery, we would have to do it Hawaii style. We went to the river behind our house and did one there, one at slippery falls and one in the ocean at Queens bath at sunset. Queens Bath is by far our favorite sunset spot and it is only 5 minutes away! That was an assignment where we had a lot of fun! One bad thing about being on the island and having to do book reports is that there is not a single book store on the entire island and the library in our town has a limited selection! The only way to buy book around here is to go to Costco (which has an even smaller selection) or order it off of the Internet. Hawaii is kind of out in the middle of no where so sometimes things take FOREVER to get here! I'm sure he will survive and have another great year in Chief despite some of the obstacles!

I can't really think of too much more to tell you about. We are working, enjoying the beach and going to church a lot. We miss you all and I cant wait to be there to see you! I can't believe its only 10 more days!!! Crazy! I'll be able to be there to find out the gender of Travis and Molly's baby and hopefully see my first niece be born! What a fun and baby-filled vacation! I am beyond excited! Maybe I will go ahead and pack now... ;-)

Much love,
The Brothers
